The ultimate good news is that God came to earth in the form of a man named Jesus and paid the price of His blood so we could be reconciled to God. Sin had separated us from God and only God Himself could be the price to redeem us. He loved us so much He gave Himself for us. That’s the good news of eternal life!!! But wait that’s not the only good news. What about some “Good News” for this present life? According to scripture that is actually the last news presented when displaying the anointing of God to build His Kingdom. Historically we have started at the end and worked backwards, I really think the original plan given in scripture would work much more effectively. Jesus said in Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Remember Jesus was the body that God lived in at the time and the blood bought, born again believer is the body God lives in today. So we should be able to echo these same words of our Master. First of all we may have missed the biblical meaning of this thing called “anointing”. The word in the Greek comes from chraomai, a primary verb; to furnish what is needed; give an oracle, “graze” (touch slightly), light upon, (by implication) to employ or (by extension) to act towards one in a given manner:–entreat, use. In my words, the anointing is to enable your flesh to do more effectively what your flesh does. He says He was to preach, (be the herald or town crier), the acceptable year of the Lord, but this is listed last. What is this acceptable year of the Lord? Some teach or preach that it is still some future event perhaps when the Lord returns for His Bride, but I personally don’t think so. I believe this is the day that the Father accepted the supreme sacrifice of His only begotten sons blood being applied to the Mercy Seat in heaven as the price paid for our reconciliation. I am convinced this acceptable year of the Lord or explanation of “eternal life” should not be preached or cried out until we have also preach or cried out what precedes this ultimate message of “Good News”. There are five other messages that precede it, More tomorrow or whenever. This and the next few posts are excerpts from the series on “Biblical Healing” I am presently teaching at our local gathering on Sunday Morning. If you are ever in our area…”Come and See”.
